A lighthearted suspense film about a phony psychic/con artist and her private investigator boyfriend who encounter a pair of serial kidnappers while trailing a missing heir in California. The film was Alfred Hitchcock's swan song. Film critic Roger Ebert said of the film, "Hitchcock has a deviously complicated tale to tell, and he's going to tell it with labyrinthine detail, and he's not going to cheat."
